I want to help you create more meaningful work in less time, and the Latitude Lookout newsletter is the best way to do that while the application is still being created.
It gives you a behind-the-scenes view of how Latitude is being created, and it's the first place to discover new Latitude Podcast interviews, Productivity Stacks videos, and hear when the app is live.
Being a creator means your craft can't be your only focus. You're the marketer 🎤, engineer 🖥, designer 🎨, copywriter ✏️, video editor 📹, and support 🤷... somewhere in there it's probably a good idea to continue learning and improving your skills too.
How many things do you know you need to do, but they just aren't getting done?
I've felt all of these at one time or another. Doing creative work is hard. Making a living from that creative work is even harder... especially when you already have a full-time job or multiple clients with their own demands on your time and attention.
There is only so much time in a day... only so many Pomodoros to be Getting Things Done, and the ocean of Deep Work is only getting deeper. Hopefully, we Kanban all of that and find a better way to work (sorry everyone 😂).
What if...
Your to-do list isn't motivating because it isn't connected to anything deeper. Tools like Trello, Todoist, and Things don't give you the bigger picture. A task is just a task is just a task. You can check it off or let it be, but that action (or inaction) never feels like part of your larger goals, dreams, and ambitions.
It doesn't always feel like it, but each of those tasks you choose to check off or not is a vote for the person you want to become.
Connecting your daily tasks to your weekly plans gives you a target to aim for, and connecting your weekly plans to your quarterly and yearly goals ensures the target you're aiming for is the right one.
Everyone likes to talk about work-life balance. However, work is part of life, not something entirely separate. Understanding what to work on is the first step, but understanding why you're working on it is the next step toward freedom and clarity.
Latitude gives you the guardrails to be productive but leaves enough flexibility to work in the way that comes easiest for you.
Latitude is currently under development, but I don't want to leave you waiting. In the meantime, I'll be sharing how I'm building it, the productivity system behind the software, and the tools and techniques folks like you and me are already using to get their most creative work done.
The Latitude Lookout newsletter gives you a behind-the-scenes view of how Latitude is being created and how you can create latitude in your own life. It's the first place to discover new Latitude Podcast interviews, Productivity Stacks videos, and hear when the app is live.
There's another added benefit though...
You'll discover that many of those daily tasks you used to have on your to-do list don't matter. Removing them once and for all won't just clean up your to-do list, it will clean up your mental space for things that do matter. For me, that's spending time outside with my fiancé and my pup 🐶 while still helping folks like you do more intentional work.
Latitude helps you define what matters to you.
Hi, I'm Bryan 👋
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know everything. There are certainly days (and weeks 🤭) where I don't accomplish anything significant. However, I've learned a couple things along the way.
Before building Latitude, I worked as a Product Designer at agencies, in-house, and freelance. Working with everyone from living-room startups to $1 billion tech companies and Fortune 50 corporations has given me a wide perspective on what it takes to show up and do creative work.
Recently, I've been sharing some of what I've learned by splitting my time between working with clients and creating a few educational resources for designers.
People have had some pretty great things to say about some of my other projects:
...will help propel me to the next level as a lead on my team. Thanks again for creating and sharing this with the community.
WOOOOOOOOOW, That’s awesome!
[This] is great, I'm only at the start but already it's fantastic
...totally awesome. Amazing.
...and my personal favorite...
Sorry but this is ****ING WONDERFUL, thank you
My time as a in-house designer, freelance designer, course creator, and ⛷🥾🚣 guide (a story for another time), let me try lots of different ways to be productive. It was (and continues to be) a long journey discovering how to create meaningful work for myself. Through lots of trial and error, I've created a system of physical notebooks, multiple apps, and a regular review process. Getting Things Done, Kanban, Pomodoro, and other systems all played a role, but the best system is the one you create for yourself.
Latitude will help you create your productivity system and start getting your most important work done.
The Latitude Lookout is the best place to continue your journey toward meaningful (and productive) work. The web app is currently under development, but the newsletter will give you a head start. It gives you a behind-the-scenes vision of how Latitude is being created and how you can create latitude in your own life.
The Lookout is the first place where new Latitude Podcast episodes and Productivity Stacks walkthroughs are shared. It's also the first place to hear when the application is live.
